The NBC Connecticut Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride and
Walk is an annual statewide event of Coach Calhoun's to
benefit the Carole and Ray Comprehensive Cancer Center
at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Coaches
vs. Cancer, a program established in 1993 by the American
Cancer Society.
This exciting day is open to everyone who wants to join
Coach Calhoun in the fight against cancer. There will be
non-competitive rides of 10, 25, 50 and 75 mile with riders
age 14 and older from across the Northeast as well as a 5K
walk/run open to all ages. Fun activities are planned for
participants and spectators.
Register to ride or walk by signing up as an individual,
joining an existing team or starting a new team. The Health
Center has four teams that are looking for members:
1. The Rosenkrantz Riders – captain Ted Rosenkrantz
2. Calhoun Cardiology Center – captain Michael Azrin
3. UConn Fritz Free Riders – captain Joyce Fritz
4. Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center – captain Jody Blumberg
5. Mohs Movers – captain LuAnn Satherlie
You don't have to walk or ride
to participate, you can choose to volunteer during the event
or make a donation. All donations are tax-deductible and can
be made on-line or through cash or checks. Checks should be
made out to the UConn Foundation and mailed to:
